July 8-13, 2012; Wingate, North Carolina
PASSPORTchoices is designed with the understanding that youth are unique and that God is at work in each of their lives in unique ways. Some youth are artists; others are in to the environment. Some express themselves through cooking, while others will travel the world. As always, youth need to be given the opportunity to impact the lives of those around them through hands on missions. PASSPORTchoices is designed to help campers explore the reality that they are uniquely and wonderfully made and encourage them to make great choices as they discover who God is creating them to become!
2012 Camp Theme: LIFE TOGETHER
This summer, PASSPORTchoices campers will join together in Christian community to:
- Have real conversations, not just virtual ones.
- Discover how the words we say and the rhythm of our actions can beautifully define us as a community of people who follow Jesus with our lives.
- Celebrate love, laughter and forgiveness.
- Explore how, in Christ, we can change the way the world experiences community.
We will experience Life Together. Our 2012 theme verse is:
My children, we should love people not only with words and talk, but by our actions and true caring. 1 John 3:18 (NCV)
The four main daily themes of the Bible studies are as follows:
- Day 1: Encounter Christ (Luke 24:31)
- Day 2: Embrace Community (Romans 12:5b)
- Day 3: Extend Grace (Luke 10:27)
- Day 4: Empower (Acts 1:8)
What are Choices?
Each morning following Bible Study, campers will form into Choice Groups. Choices for this year include:
- Missions—Campers can choose between volunteering in a nursing home, working with children, or helping repair a home.
- Common Threads—Students will look for and learn to appreciate what we have in common with people from different cultures, religions and parts of the world.
- Huddle Up—Discover team dynamics, creative play, and leadership while playing and leading games.
- Curtain Call—Explore the power of drama in expressing one’s self, shaping others’ souls, and following Christ in community.
- Echo—Explore what the Bible says about call and spend real time living practical examples of ministry.
- Grace Notes—Students will engage their creative senses as they write lyrics, make music together, and create authentic worship experiences.
- Soul Food—Participants will be given the opportunity to learn about the spiritual gift of hospitality and what it means to serve others.
- Five Things—Juniors and Seniors ONLY! Brand new for 2012! Balancing a budget, doing laundry, finding a church, being a good neighbor, time management…these are just some of the things around the bend for Juniors and Seniors. Participants will spend time learning how to take care of themselves and how to be a good neighbor, all the while learning how to make space for hearing the voice of God in the midst of college and career.
